திருப்புவனம் அருகே உள்ள மதபுரம் பத்ரகாளி அம்மன் கோவிலில் பணிபுரியும் அஜித்குமார் என்ற இளைஞர் விசாரணைக்காக அழைத்துச் செல்லப்பட்டார், மேலும் அவர் இறந்த வழக்கில் 5 போலீசார் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.
சிவகங்கை மாவட்டம் திருப்புவனம் அருகே மதபுரத்தில் ஒரு பத்ரகாளி அம்மன் கோவில் உள்ளது. இந்த புகழ்பெற்ற கோவிலில் அஜித்குமார் என்ற இளைஞர் பணிபுரிந்து வந்தார். இந்த சூழ்நிலையில், ஒரு பெண் பக்தர் அளித்த நகை திருட்டு புகாரின் அடிப்படையில், கோவிலில் தற்காலிக காவலராக பணிபுரிந்த அஜித்குமார் என்ற இளைஞர் சந்தேகத்தின் பேரில் திருப்புவனம் போலீசாரால் விசாரணைக்காக அழைத்துச் செல்லப்பட்டார். பணியில் இருந்த போலீசார் அடித்ததால் அஜித்குமார் இறந்ததாக உறவினர்கள் குற்றம் சாட்டினர்.

இதைத் தொடர்ந்து, அஜித்குமாரின் மரணத்திற்கு காரணமானதாகக் கூறப்படும் 6 போலீசாரும் இடைநீக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டனர். இருப்பினும், பல்வேறு அரசியல் கட்சித் தலைவர்களும் பொதுமக்களும் 6 போலீசாரையும் கைது செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று வலியுறுத்தினர். இதைத் தொடர்ந்து, சம்பவம் சிபிசிஐடி போலீஸ் விசாரணைக்கு மாற்றப்பட்டது.
பிரேத பரிசோதனை அறிக்கை
இந்த சூழ்நிலையில், அஜித்குமாரின் பிரேத பரிசோதனை அறிக்கை நேற்று இரவு வெளியிடப்பட்டது. விசாரணைக்காக அழைத்துச் செல்லப்பட்டு இறந்த அஜித்குமாரின் உடலில் 18 காயங்கள் காணப்பட்டதாகவும், வலது மணிக்கட்டுக்கு மேலேயும் வலது மணிக்கட்டுக்குக் கீழேயும் சிராய்ப்புகள் இருந்ததாகவும் தெரியவந்துள்ளது. முதல் தகவல் அறிக்கையில் அவர் விழுந்தபோது வலிப்பு ஏற்பட்டு இறந்ததாகவும் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த சூழ்நிலையில், 5 காவல்துறை அதிகாரிகள் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.
5 ஆண்டுகளில் காவல் நிலைய இறப்புகள் குறைந்துள்ளன
இந்த துரதிர்ஷ்டவசமான சம்பவத்தில், தமிழக அரசு காவல்துறை நியாயமாகவும், வெளிப்படையாகவும், பாரபட்சமின்றியும் செயல்பட்டுள்ளது. கடந்த காலத்தை விட, கடந்த ஐந்து ஆண்டுகளில் காவல் நிலைய இறப்புகளின் எண்ணிக்கை கணிசமாகக் குறைந்துள்ளது, மேலும் இதுபோன்ற சம்பவங்கள் நிகழும்போது தமிழக காவல்துறை எந்த இரக்கமும் இல்லாமல் உடனடி மற்றும் உறுதியான நடவடிக்கை எடுத்துள்ளதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதற்கிடையில், கைது செய்யப்பட்ட 5 காவல்துறையினரையும் 15 நாட்கள் நீதிமன்றக் காவலில் வைக்க திருப்புவனம் நீதிமன்றம் உத்தரவு பிறப்பித்துள்ளது.

5 காவல்துறை அதிகாரிகள் கைது செய்யப்பட்டனர்

In this situation, based on a complaint of jewelry theft filed by a female devotee, a youth named Ajith Kumar, who was working as a temporary guard at the temple, was taken for questioning by the Thiruppuvanam police on suspicion. The relatives alleged that Ajith Kumar died due to beating by the policemen on duty.
CBCID police investigation
Following this, all 6 policemen who were allegedly responsible for Ajith Kumar’s death were suspended. However, various political party leaders and the public demanded the arrest of all 6 policemen. Following this, the incident was transferred to the CBCID police investigation.
Postmortem report
In this situation, the postmortem report of Ajith Kumar was released last night. It was revealed that Ajith Kumar, who was taken for investigation and died, had 18 injuries on his body and abrasions above and below his right wrist. The first information report states that he died of a seizure when he fell. In this situation, 5 police officers have been arrested.
Police station deaths have decreased in 5 years
In this unfortunate incident, the Tamil Nadu government police has acted fairly, openly and impartially. Compared to the past, the number of police station deaths in the last five years has decreased significantly, and it has been reported that the Tamil Nadu police has taken immediate and firm action without any mercy when such incidents occur. Meanwhile, the Thiruppuvanam court has ordered the 5 arrested police officers to be remanded in judicial custody for 15 days.
In this regard, the police have issued a statement: In connection with the death of Ajith Kumar, who was taken for questioning in a case in Sivaganga district on June 28, six police officers have been suspended from duty with immediate effect. All legal procedures to be followed in cases related to deaths in police stations were duly followed and appropriate investigations were carried out. As soon as the results of the post-mortem report conducted under these procedures were received tonight, further steps were taken immediately without any delay.

In this case, after receiving the post-mortem report, the case has been classified as a murder case and five police officers involved in the incident have been arrested. In this regard, a case has been registered at the Thiruppuvanam police station under Section 196(2)(a) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) Act, under Crime No. 303/2025 and sent for judicial investigation.
